MITUME PASTORAL AND CATECHETICAL CENTRE

BACKGROUND

The CENTRE is basically meant to train Catechists who will assist in the Catechetical work in the respective Parishes of various Dioceses.

MISSION STATEMENT
To form and equip catechists with deep
faith, sound doctrine, and pastoral skills for the effective proclamation of the Gospel and the
building up of Christian communities.
VISION STATEMENT.
To be a Christ-centered formation hub that nurtures knowledgeable, faith-filled, and
compassionate catechists who inspire discipleship and transform communities in the light of
the Gospel.

The catechists attend workshop and seminar on various Subjects and Topics.
1. The Course takes 16 Weeks (4 months)
January -April/May
August-December
After the completion, the certificate is issued.


2. The selection of the right people to be catechists is very essential. Unsuitable choice will
not yield Good Fruits. Scrutinize carefully the character, talents and motivation of the
applicant.
Applicant should be; –
· Who have shown commitment and some talents for Catechetical work.
· Who are reliable and methodical in their ways of working.
· Who receive Holy Communion and if married, have wedded in Church.

MITUME CATECHETICAL GOVERNING STRUCTURE

Mitume Catechetical Training Centre works best with a clear, collaborative, and
mission-driven management structure. The structure ensures accountability, spiritual
guidance, and smooth administration.
Here’s our governing structure:
1. Governing Body / Board of Trustees
The board comprises of 10 members divide into two committees; financial and social
committees. The executive oversights the two committees.
The board of management provides oversight, policy direction, and long-term vision.
Ensures alignment with Church teachings and diocesan priorities.Approves budgets and
major initiatives.
2. Director

Represents the centre to the diocese, parishes, and community. Oversees staff, training
programs, and formation activities.

3. Management Team (Core Leadership)
Mitume catechetical centre has one priest, two religious nuns and one lay catechist who are
residential members of staff. They support the Director and manages key functional areas:
Academic Coordinator – designs curriculum, training modules, and resources.
Spiritual Director – provides spiritual formation, retreats, and pastoral guidance.
Administrator / Registrar – manages records, enrolments, HR, and general administration.
Finance Officer – oversees budgets, fundraising, and financial accountability.
Community Outreach & Partnerships Coordinator – links with parishes, schools, and other
institutions.
4. Faculty & Trainer
Our esteem institution has 9 professional trainers. They qualified catechists, theologians, and
pastoral ministers. They deliver courses, workshops, and formation programs and they also
mentor and support students.
5. Support Staff
They include Secretary, librarian, maintenance, and hospitality staff. They Ensure smooth
functioning of the centre.
6. Advisory Council (ex official members)
Made up of Bishop of catholic diocese of kitale, clergy, religious, educators, and lay leaders.
Advises on emerging pastoral needs, new training methods, and catechetical trends.
This structure balances spiritual leadership, academic formation, and efficient administration,
ensuring the centre remains faithful to the Church while effectively serving the community.
