Bishop Emeritus Maurice Anthony Crowley presided over the funeral service for Mama Lilian Chesaina Tai, mother To Fr. Philip Kiprop at her home in the Kimoson area, within the Kapkoi Parish.
In his homily, Fr. Abraham Birgen encouraged the faithful to emulate the Virgin Mary by being ever-ready to offer assistance wherever challenges arise. Mama Lilian was remembered as a cheerful, upright, generous and God-fearing person.
She passed away on October 11, 2026 while receiving medical treatment at the Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret. She is survived by her husband, Michael Tai, as well as her children and grandchildren. The service was attended by hundreds of mourners, including priests, religious sisters and political leaders.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
