THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CELEBRATES THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS

On Sunday, November 1 2026, the Catholic Church celebrated the Solemnity of All Saints. On this occasion, Bishop Henry Juma Odonya presided over Holy Mass at the Maria Mpalizwa (Mary Assumed into Heaven) Parish.

During this Mass, the Bishop also officially welcomed and commissioned the animators of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood (PMC) within the diocese, entrusting them with the responsibility of guiding and nurturing children in the foundations of the faith and the mission of the Church.

In his homily, the Bishop invited the faithful to reflect on the universal call to a life of holiness and the inheritance of the Kingdom of Heaven. Drawing upon the Church’s teachings regarding holiness and the lives of the saints, the Bishop encouraged the faithful to trust in God, persevere in the faith and lead lives that are pleasing to God, following the example of the saints.

Addressing the PMC animators who were welcomed and commissioned, the Bishop urged them to carry out their duties faithfully, serving as excellent mentors and guides for children in their spiritual, moral and faith-based growth. Furthermore, he called upon parents, guardians and society at large to uphold the laws and the Constitution of the country concerning the rights, protection and well-being of children.

For his part, Father George Sindani, the Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), expressed his gratitude to the mentors who completed their training and accepted this mission, urging them to carry out their duties with dedication and to foster good moral values among the children.

Sister Ann Katuva (SMG), the coordinator for the PMC (Pontifical Mission for Children) and MYM (Missionary Youth Movement) groups, encouraged parents and guardians to make the most of the school holiday period by setting aside time for their children, guiding them, teaching them good moral values and providing them with appropriate direction so that they may grow upon a solid foundation of life and faith.

The Mass was also attended by Fathers James Ndombi and Moses Kennedy Wekesa, as well as the Parish Priest of Maria Mpalizwa Parish in Makutano, Father Leonard Kimosop.
